Volunteers are an essential part of Port Coquitlam’s Emergency Preparedness Program, which prepares the City and community for the effects of a disaster or major emergency. Volunteers receive training and equipment.
Volunteer Opportunities
Area of Focus / Purpose: To enhance community resilience through the development and delivery of community education.
Activities include:
facilitation training;
updating and delivering Residential, strata/co-op and business education sessions; and
supporting the coordination of and attending City-events, such as the EP components for May Day parade and Fair
Area of Focus / Purpose: To enhance operational readiness by reviewing and maintaining ESS documentation, and associated processes.
Activities include:
Quarterly meetings with regular training and scenario-based discussions
Documentation management
Drills and Exercises
Area of Focus / Purpose: To enhance operational readiness through training and familiarization of EP equipment and supplies.
Activities include:
testing of EP equipment, e.g. all generators are run to ensure they are properly maintained; and
conduct inventory checks of EP equipment and supplies.
Area of Focus / Purpose: To enhance community resilience through education of pet preparedness and increase operational readiness by planning for the management of pets during Emergency Support Services activations.
Activities include:
