Thank you to everyone who joined us and the Fox family for the unveiling of Terry Fox: Inspiring Local Champions.
Exhibit
This powerful exhibit at the Port Coquitlam Community Centre (PCCC) celebrates Terry Fox as a hometown hero, embodying resilience, determination, and unwavering community spirit, while also highlighting Port Coquitlam’s rich history of local champions and community builders. Featuring interactive displays and treasured artifacts, the exhibit aims to provide an immersive and engaging experience.
The exhibit, in collaboration with the Fox family and the Terry Fox Centre will showcase treasured Terry Fox artifacts, including his spare prosthetic leg, an adidas running shoe, and a Marathon of Hope t-shirt, along with items from his high school years, like his PoCo Ravens athletic jacket. In addition to these historical artifacts, visitors can also engage with an interactive Terry Fox timeline on the lobby’s feature wall, exploring his early years in Port Coquitlam through photos and content activated by a slider screen.
Street Banners
In addition to the exhibit, new street banners will be installed in downtown Port Coquitlam and throughout the community in late March, creating vibrant City streets. These banners, inspired by the exhibit’s design, will celebrate PoCo Sport Hall of Fame athletes featuring Chris Rinke, Dan Payne, Michelle Bowyer, Tina Racine Connelly, and Mary-Anne Walz, alongside an image of Terry Fox. A total of 290 banners will be installed for a one-year period, promoting both the “Inspiring Local Champions” exhibit and the City’s sporting heritage.
