The City of Port Coquitlam procures goods, services, and construction projects for the City. The City procures many different goods and services, including but not limited to: vehicles, heavy-duty equipment, parts, pipe, road construction, water and sewer services, furniture, fixtures and equipment, office products, consulting services, building and grounds maintenance services, firefighting apparatus and equipment, first aid supplies, and printing services.
Competition Thresholds
The City of Port Coquitlam conducts its procurement needs under the guidelines set out in the Procurement Policy [PDF/181KB] as amended by City Council on July 13, 2021.
Competition Criteria
Award of competed procurements will consider "overall best value" for the City and its taxpayers. Overall best value may include one or more criteria including but not limited to: quality, specifications, environmental and social impact, service, warranties, price, supplier’s demonstrated ability to perform the work and timely delivery. With each individual purchase these criteria can change.
What if I am a contractor or service company doing business on city property?
You may be required to give proof of the following:
- Valid City of Port Coquitlam or Tri-Cities Inter-municipal business license
- Federal and provincial permits
- An active Workers' Compensation number or a Clearance Letter from the Workers' Compensation Board.
- Minimum $3 million General liability insurance with the Corporation of the City of Port Coquitlam named as additional insured.
- Employee criminal checks
- a safety program that meets WorkSafe BC requirements
- a Prime Contractor (pdf) Designation letter
- Professional liability insurance (errors and omissions) in the amounts specified
- Living Wage declaration
- Federal, Provincial and City Permit(s)
The City of Port Coquitlam is a “Living Wage Employer”. The City is committed to paying our direct employees, and contracted services employees a living wage and has established a Living Wage Policy.
