The purpose of Council remuneration is to provide an incentive for community members to hold public office and to show appreciation for those that dedicate their time and effort to the governance responsibility of City services, operations and programs.
Remuneration for Port Coquitlam City Council is calculated annually in accordance with Council Remuneration Policy #7.14.05 [PDF/645KB] and is intended to provide fair compensation in a transparent manner. In accordance with Port Coquitlam's Council Remuneration Policy, the remuneration rates for Council as of 2025 are as follows:
Remuneration
- Mayor, per year: $169,607.40
- Councillor, per year: $66,018.69
- Acting Mayor, per month: $2,917.82
Allowance
- Transportation Allowance Mayor, per year: $10,513.05
- Transportation Allowance Acting Mayor, per month: $151.43
- Communication Allowance, per month: $70.00
* Allowance amounts to be paid monthly on the last pay of each month.
