They will once again work through the night, protecting residents and their properties.
Coast Meridian remains closed between Patricia and Lincoln. Pumps and tiger dam are in place. A fourth pump has now been added at this location as an additional preventative measure.
Stay out of closed areas, drive with care as water may pool on roads, and don’t go near rivers and creeks as water is fast-moving and banks may be unstable.

Thursday, March 19 at 11:35am: Crews worked throughout the night to maintain critical storm‑sewer infrastructure. River levels have dropped, but crews continue to be on both the north and south sides of the city to respond and monitor.
On Coast Meridian Road (between Patricia and Lincoln), all three pumps, along with the tiger dam, will remain in place as a preventative measure until the event has fully passed.

Wednesday, March 18 at 9:45pm: As the rainfall continues, so does our proactive work to prevent flooding. City crews are working around the clock, maintaining critical storm sewer infrastructure across Port Coquitlam.
“Protecting residents and property is our priority. By proactively installing tiger dams along Coast Meridian, City crews are taking important steps to help reduce flood risk and support community safety,” said Mayor Brad West. “I want to thank our staff for their hard work, quick response and continued efforts on the ground.”

Rainfall & Flood Watch Update #4 | Wednesday, March 18 at 3:30pm: The BC River Forecast Centre has upgraded the High Streamflow Advisory to a Flood Watch for our region. The following closures are in place as City crews complete further preventive work:
- As a preventative measure, Coast Meridian Road from Lincoln Avenue to Patricia Avenue is closed until further notice. An excavator and tiger dams have been staged at Hyde Creek where it crosses Coast Meridian Road, and an additional pump and generator have been deployed to Cedar Pump Station to prevent flooding.
- All trails and turf fields are closed until further notice. River flows are high, water levels can rise quickly, and banks may be unstable. Please avoid rivers, creeks, and trails.
City crews are:
- Actively maintaining critical storm sewer infrastructure across Port Coquitlam, including clearing trash racks, catch basins, culverts, and outfalls to help keep water moving through the system.
