PORT COQUITLAM, BC - May 22, 2024... Businesses and organizations now have more opportunities to gain positive exposure and support the community through the City of Port Coquitlam's expanded sponsorship program.
Sponsorship opportunities at all levels are available for a wide range of Port Coquitlam events, festivals and programs through the Corporate Sponsorship Program, which the City formalized and broadened this year to include both major events such as May Days and Canada Day, and community-level events and programs such as the Volunteer Recognition Awards, Block Party Program, Music in the Park, the CPKC Holiday Train and others.
"Port Coquitlam is known for hosting successful family-friendly events, festivals and programs that are well supported by our local community and attract thousands of people from across the region," said Mayor Brad West. "For businesses and organizations, sponsorship is a great way to align with a popular event and program, market themselves to a target audience and gain community goodwill. From the City's point of view, it helps create additional revenue to support services that our community wants, without relying on our taxpayers."
The City works closely with sponsors to create customized packages that meet their needs and budgets. Sponsorship levels include title sponsorship and various tiered levels with different costs and benefits.
In-kind contributions are accepted at any level and amount for goods and services required for the event. This may include advertising, audio-visual services, décor, door prizes, entertainment, food or beverages, photography or printing.
In return for their support, the City promotes sponsors in a variety of ways, both at the event itself and in the community beforehand and afterwards.
Depending on their level, sponsor promotion may include garbage truck wraps, digital billboards, transit shelter ads, social media posts, website links and logo, digital ads, facility screens, media releases and more. At the event, sponsors may be promoted in the event program, signs, video screens, emcee announcements, and displays at business markets at larger events.
"At Port Coquitlam, we take pride in being a premier festival and event host, and have been working to improve our efforts in this area," said Cllr. Paige Petriw, Council's delegate for events. "At the same time, we recognize there are costs associated with coordinating and hosting events. Our work to expand our sponsorship program is intended to help offset these costs and allow us to host even better events."
Port Coquitlam sponsorship opportunities are offered for both major events and community-level events and programs. Examples of major events include May Days and Canada Day, both of which attract more than 20,000 people, as well as Car Free Day and Winter in the City, which both see more than 5,000 attendees.
Community-level events have a more local audience and include the Adopt-a-SPOT litter cleanup program, Block Party Program, Cinema Under the Stars, CPKC Holiday Train, Farmers Market, Halloween Howl, Music in the Park, youth and seniors' events, and the PoCo Best Biz Awards.
Organizations are also invited to approach the City with ideas for other programs or activities they would like to sponsor. Email inquiries may be sent to [email protected].
