Port Coquitlam property owners are reminded that their 2025 property taxes are due by Wednesday, July 2, 2025. The City encourages residents to plan their payments to ensure a smooth process and avoid potential penalties. Given ongoing labour discussions and the potential for service disruptions at Canada Post, mail delivery delays are possible. The City therefore advises exploring alternative payment methods to ensure timely receipt of payment.
By now all properties should have received their 2025 tax notices, which include information about how to pay property taxes and claim the Home Owner Grant online to avoid the lineups at City Hall. A five per cent penalty will be added if current taxes remain unpaid after July 2. A further five per cent penalty will be added to unpaid current taxes after Sept. 15.
The City encourages taxpayers to save time and skip the line by taking advantage of online banking or other payment methods:
- Online Banking: Often the quickest and most reliable method.
- Log in to your online banking portal
- Go to the payments area to add Bill Payee.
- Enter “Port Coquitlam” and select Search
- Select "Port Coquitlam (City)Prop Tax" as the payee.
- Use your nine digit folio number as your account number (no dashes or spaces). If your bank requires 12 digits, simply add "224" to the beginning of your folio number.
- Go to the bill payment area, enter the amount due and the payment date, confirm the details, and submit.
- Please note: Online payments might be processed the following business day. To ensure your payment is on time for the July 2 deadline, the City suggests scheduling your online payment by June 27.
- Save or print the confirmation page or record the confirmation number, as proof of your payment.
- Post-Dated Cheque or Money Order: Mail or drop off a post-dated cheque or money order in the secured mail slot to the right of City Hall main entrance.
- At Your Bank: Pay your property taxes directly at most financial institutions.
Residents are advised that penalties will be applied if their financial institution rejects payment, or if payment is received after the due date from their financial institution.
The City of Port Coquitlam advises residents who have not received their tax notice by mail to immediately contact the Tax Office at 604-927-5425 or [email protected] to request a notice.

Home owner grants are submitted directly to the Province of BC. If eligible, residents can submit their current year Home Owner Grant (2025) and if applicable, Retroactive Grant (2024) directly to the province. To avoid penalty and interest, residents must claim their grant before the tax due date. To learn more, check eligibility and claim the Home Owner Grant visit gov.bc.ca/homeownergrant.
Instructions for paying taxes and claiming the Home Owner Grant online can be found at portcoquitlam.ca/taxes, along with more information about payment options. Payment details are also printed on the back of the tax notice.
The Tax Office at City Hall is open Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for residents who want to pay their taxes in person.
