Lane Paving Requests

Please note: The City receives a large volume of requests for lane paving as most of the lanes in the City are currently unpaved. Lane Paving Program was introduced in 2021 to establish a fair and cost-effective approach, while staying within budget, and ensuring that taxes remain affordable for residents. Annual funding supports paving and drainage works for approximately 300m of lane paving per year (2-3 lanes).

The Lane Paving program sets out criteria for determining which lanes to pave first:

• Lanes which provide the only access or primary access to properties along its length
• Lanes with higher traffic volumes (e.g. denser development or properties per block)
• Lanes which have collected cash in lieu for paving through redevelopment
• Lanes which are partially paved
• Lanes with higher maintenance costs or significant complaints
• Lanes meeting any criteria to a greater extent than others, and those meeting multiple criteria will be paved first.
