Port Coquitlam residents are encouraged to check out the City's 2022 Annual Report, now available online.
Annual Reports, a statutory requirement, provide a snapshot of the City's work over a year with key activities and priorities, financial documents, statistics and a preview of upcoming activities.
The 2022 report, entitled Strategic Investing in a Vibrant Future, details the City's efforts to use its resources responsibly and strategically while working to ensure Port Coquitlam remains vibrant and livable. The report is available for review and comment at portcoquitlam.ca/annualreport and will be considered at the June 27 Council meeting.
For 17 years, Port Coquitlam's easy-to-read annual reports have won awards from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) of the United States and Canada. The City will submit the 2022 report for the GFOA's Canadian Financial Reporting Award.
These and other highlights are featured in the 2022 report:
- A $35-million investment in infrastructure including neighbourhood rehabilitation, pedestrian safety, multi-use paths, and utility and parks upgrades,
- Community celebrations throughout the year, including signature festivals like May Days and new opportunities like a street party on the newly upgraded McAllister Avenue,
- Continuing progress on downtown revitalization, including the start of construction for Veterans Park and planning for Leigh Square upgrades,
- Progress on updates to the Master Transportation Plan and Climate Action Plan,
- Flood-prevention works to address the impacts of climate change including Burns Road and Fremont Street culvert upgrades,
- A landmark servicing agreement with the k_ik_____m (Kwikwetlem) First Nation,
- Receiving a Rick Hansen Foundation Accessibility Certified Gold rating for the Port Coquitlam Community Centre,
- Receiving a $6.7-million provincial grant for a world-class soccer hub at Gates Park,
- A civic election including acclamation of the Mayor and all incumbents re-elected,
- A variety of safety projects including free Slow Down decals for waste bins, the Alertable app for emergency alerts, a $25,000 provincial grant for Emergency Support Services, and public outreach on a variety of topics,
- Progress on housing include a record 517 units constructed, about half of which were affordable units,
- A record of 4,117 business licences issued, and
- Adoption of a new City anti-racial discrimination policy.
Public Review of ReportPort Coquitlam provides the public with an opportunity to provide feedback on each year's Annual Report.

Citizens are also invited to watch the Council meeting when the report will be considered on June 27 at 6 p.m., at City Hall or online at portcoquitlam.ca/councilmeeting.
