Michael Wright Art Gallery
The Michael Wright Art Gallery in the Gathering Place presents shift by A.R.T. & Justice. Inspired by the artistic voice and vision of currently and previously incarcerated peoples, and aiming to reduce feelings of hopelessness and social exclusion exacerbated by the daily realities of incarceration, the A.R.T. & Justice team has been gifting art supplies to people in prisons across BC since 2020. These gifts are to remind people they are not forgotten, provide comfort, and offer opportunities to create community through art. This exhibition - shift - honours their work and invites you to reposition yourself - from a passive viewer to an active participant in social change - to build community along with us. Visit artjusticeresearch.org for more information.

Outlet Gallery
The Outlet Gallery presents Avifauna by Molly Gray. Avifauna is an ongoing exploration of birds that inhabit BC, from the Lower Mainland, Vancouver Island and Southern BC Coast. From song, to pollination, to pest removal, each bird plays an important role in our ecosystem. In this ongoing body of work, Molly has crafted a series of to-scale, mixed media relief prints, with the intention of encouraging viewers to contemplate the wonder of birds. City Hall Gallery
The City Hall Gallery presents Finally Fall by Amber Nordstand. Finally Fall is a solo exhibition featuring framed gouache and acrylic ink paintings of local abandoned properties. A lifelong resident of Port Coquitlam, Amber has been a firsthand witness to its socio-economic transformation. Her personal connection with the area evolves this project into something of a visual diary, grappling with the whiplash of once-familiar sights swallowed by an indifferent modernity. Alongside her sentimental ideas of time, nature, and home, her work implicates the current environmental panic, housing inflation and displacement crisis impacting the province.
Through Finally Fall, viewers are invited to consider their surroundings, and how they can so easily fold under the weight of change. Visit ambernordstrand.com for more information

Port Coquitlam Community Centre Gallery
The Port Coquitlam Community Centre (PCCC) Gallery presents The Power of Being a Woman by Ania Salmina. This exhibition includes artwork from the artists watercolour series named The Girls and the new acrylic on canvas pieces. Both represent a narrative about a woman engaged in an unceasing journey of self-development. This exhibition explores the delicate equilibrium between a woman's aspirations and opportunities, goals and priorities, and the allocation of time and biological resources that shape her life. Although deeply personal to the artist, these themes resonate universally with many women, highlighting the unique set of key elements that define womanhood. Visit instagram.com/sunshine_roof for more information.
The exhibitions will run until April 23, 2024. Visit portcoquitlam.ca/exhibitions for more information, including interviews with the artists and images of their artwork.
The City Hall, Michael Wright, Outlet, and Port Coquitlam Community Centre Galleries feature a rotating program of exhibitions by local and regional artists. All galleries are free to the public.
