Port Coquitlam, BC - Feb. 5, 2024... Port Coquitlam breweries are once again participating in one of five Metro Vancouver Tasting Passport promotions running throughout the month of February.
The tasting passport gives participants the chance to win a wide variety of prizes by collecting stamps from 11 of the participating breweries.
The North of the Fraser Ale Trail showcases craft breweries in Port Coquitlam, Coquitlam, New Westminster and Burnaby along with nearby restaurants, outdoor activities, accommodations and more at bcaletrail.ca or through the BC Ale Trail app.
"Our thriving craft beer industry in Port Coquitlam continues to contribute to the vibrancy of our community and is a real success story. The North of the Fraser Ale Trail passport is a great way to enjoy our breweries and check out everything that our city has to offer," Mayor Brad West said.
Seven craft alcohol businesses have opened in Port Coquitlam over the past several years, with three located on the south side of Lougheed Highway (Patina Brewing & BBQ, Taylight Brewing and PoCo Brothers Brewing) and four in the north-side's Fremont Village area (Northpaw Brewing Co., Tinhouse Brewing, Boardwalk Brewing and NiceLife Cocktails) The Port Coquitlam craft beer scene is tied into the geography of the City itself, where cyclists and pedestrians can tour these breweries and distillery along the 25-km Traboulay PoCo Trail that encircles the community.
Another tasting lounge is set to open this year in Port Coquitlam, and City Council recently increased lounge seating from 50 to 75 seats.
Five Port Coquitlam breweries (Boardwalk Brewing, Northpaw Brewing, Patina Brewing & BBQ, Tinhouse Brewing and PoCo Brothers Brewing) are part of the 11 participants in the tasting passport produced by the BC Ale Trail, a project of Destination British Columbia and BC Craft Brewers Guild.
"The tasting passport is a chance to support and visit all of the local craft breweries, experience the atmosphere and the different beer styles." Mayor West said." It's also a great opportunity to visit all of these breweries using the 25-km Traboulay PoCo Trail that surrounds our city."
The North of the Fraser Ale Trail Tasting Passport is one of five special passport promotions running in Metro Vancouver throughout February in collaboration with West Coast Food, TransLink and the City of Port Coquitlam.
Residents can visit any one of five of the participating breweries in Port Coquitlam or those listed at bcaletrail.ca/northofthefraserpassport until February 29, 2024 and ask for a stamp with purchase. Those choosing not to consume alcohol can also participate by purchasing swag, food and/or non-alcoholic drinks. After earning six unique stamps, drop off the completed ballot at a participating business to enter to win a brilliant beer-themed Staycation prize package. Multiple entries are encouraged.
The City, BC Ale Trail and all the businesses participating in these promotions are committed to ensuring that beer is enjoyed responsibly by those adults who choose to consume it. We encourage everyone to take transit as you visit the participating businesses.
