The City of Port Coquitlam invites the community to its second annual Earth Day event on Saturday, April 26, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The free, family-friendly drop-in event will take place rain or shine at the Public Works Yard, located at 1737 Broadway Street.
Stop by the City Information Booth for some fun and games and to learn more about City programs and services. You can also visit the Coquitlam River Watershed Booth to explore the world of our local waterways and discover simple ways you can help protect them.
Port Coquitlam residents can take advantage of the following initiatives at the Earth Day event, designed to provide valuable tools and knowledge for sustainable living:
- Free Bark Mulch - Enhance your garden's health and appearance with free bark mulch, available for collection. Bark mulch helps retain soil moisture, suppress weeds, and regulate soil temperature, promoting healthier plant growth. Proof of Port Coquitlam residency is required. Limited quantity per resident and availability based on first come, first served.
- Compost Giveaway - Bring your own shovels and pails to collect free, nutrient-rich compost. This initiative highlights the City's successful waste-reduction efforts, diverting over 6,288 tonnes of yard and food waste. Proof of Port Coquitlam residency is required. Limited quantity per resident and availability based on first come, first served.
- Rain Barrel Sale - Rain barrels offer a cost-effective way to water your garden, reducing your water consumption. Purchase a 200L rain barrel for $56 (including tax) and embrace sustainable gardening practices. Proof of Port Coquitlam residency is required.
Important Tree Update: Thank you to our residents for the overwhelming interest in the affordable trees. For those who made reservations, please note that your trees will be held until 11:00 a.m. After 11:00 a.m., any remaining reserved trees will be made available on a first-come, first-served basis until noon.
