Flags will be flown at half-mast at all civic facilities until further notice, to honour the victims of the tragic event that occurred at the Lapu Lapu Festival on April 26. City Hall lights will also be lit up in orange, red, blue and yellow for the week.
“On behalf of the City of Port Coquitlam, I extend my deepest and most heartfelt condolences to BC's Filipino community, and to all who are mourning after the tragic events surrounding the Lapu Lapu Festival. This festival, meant to celebrate bravery, culture, and unity, has been touched by sorrow, and our hearts ache alongside yours. Port Coquitlam is home to a vibrant Filipino community, and today, we grieve with you as family. Please know that in your pain and sadness, you are not alone — we stand with you, we mourn with you, and we hold you in our thoughts and prayers.” said Mayor Brad West.
