Terry Fox Hometown Run Traffic Information And Road Closures

News

The 45th annual Terry Fox Hometown Run is happening on Sunday, September 14. This year's run is a great chance to either cheer on the participants or join in yourself. The run is open to everyone, with no registration fee or minimum donation required. Participants are welcome to walk, run, or ride. The event begins at 10 a.m. at the Hyde Creek Recreation Centre (1379 Laurier Avenue), with registration opening at 8 a.m. This year, the route has been extended, leading participants past the new Gateway of Giants sculptures at the Port Coquitlam Community Centre (PCCC).

The run is a fun way to honour Terry's Marathon of Hope and raise funds for cancer research. Everyone is welcome to join this accessible event, whether you run, walk, skateboard, ride a bike, or rollerblade. Cheer on participants as they make their way through the community and past the new public art installation. The new sculptures, which were officially unveiled on Saturday, September 13, honour Terry Fox and inspire others to become community champions.

You can find more information about the route and register for the event at portcoquitlam.ca/terryfox.

Please be aware that the routes will be marked, and volunteers and RCMP will be directing traffic at major intersections to ensure everyone's safety. Participants are asked to stay to the right at all times and watch for oncoming traffic.
