Port Coquitlam, BC – December 10, 2025… The Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) Holiday Train is back on the rails this season and will make its much-anticipated stop in Port Coquitlam on Saturday, December 20, at 6:35 p.m., marking the final stop of its cross-country journey.
To mark the train’s arrival, CPKC with the support from the City of Port Coquitlam invites residents to enjoy a festive evening with free arts and culture craft activities, hot chocolate, popcorn, and a family movie screening of How the Grinch Stole Christmas, proudly sponsored by Valley Tech from 4:00 to 6:30 p.m., at the Port Coquitlam Community Centre (PCCC). The festivities will conclude with the arrival of the CPKC Holiday Train on Kingsway Avenue, between Mary Hill Road and Wilson Avenue, at 6:35 p.m.
“Port Coquitlam is proud to be the final stop on this year’s CPKC Holiday Train tour and part of a Christmas tradition that so many families look forward to each year,” said Mayor Brad West. “This event brings our community together in the spirit of the season while supporting families in need through local food-security programs.”
The CPKC Holiday Train show is free to attend and is part of the Winter in the City activities. The City is encouraging everyone to come out to enjoy some holiday cheer, and show your community spirit and generosity with a donation. Bring cash or a non-perishable food donation if you are able. SHARE Family and Community Service’s holiday drive will set up a collection station at this event at the train arrival point to help people in need in the community. Because local food shelves buy food at a discount, cash donations can go further than food donations to help those in need.
“The Holiday Train is a wonderful way for residents to gather, celebrate the season and support an important cause.” said Cllr. Paige Petriw, council designate for celebrations and events. “We’re excited to welcome the community for a festive evening in support of local families.”
This is the CPKC Holiday Train’s 27th anniversary. The three-week, 10,000-kilometre journey began Nov. 19 in New Brunswick and will visit more than 150 communities before its final CPKC Holiday Train performance in Port Coquitlam featuring Barenaked Ladies from 6:45 to 7:15 p.m.
Accessible Parking
Free parking will be available at the Port Coquitlam Community Centre (PCCC). People are advised to dress for the weather and have a reflective item on their clothing to make sure they can be seen when crossing the streets in the dark.
Parking Lot Closures
The West Coast Express parking lot will be closed for this event. Riders are encouraged to take advantage of free parking at the Port Coquitlam Community Centre (PCCC) or the Kingsway Avenue and Wilson Avenue parking lots.
Road Closures
Road closures will be in place for Kingsway Avenue between Mary Hill Road and Wilson Avenue from 5:00 – 9:00 p.m.
The City of Port Coquitlam thanks Valley Tech for sponsoring the family movie screening and SHARE Family and Community Services for coordinating the on-site food and cash donation drive.
