Port Coquitlam 2026 property tax notices have been mailed, and property owners should start receiving them this week. If you have a myPortCoquitlam account and are signed up for eBills, check your inbox for your emailed notice. Property taxes are due Thursday, July 2.
Port Coquitlam Council approved a 2026 operating budget with a tax increase of 1.95 per cent for the average home, one of the lowest increases in the region despite rising costs and broader economic pressures. About 73 per cent of the increase relates to mandated RCMP and labour contract costs, with the remainder due to inflation, rising service-provider fees and long-term infrastructure funding.
The annual operating budget pays for a wide variety of City services that residents and businesses rely on every day, including public safety, waste collection, recreation, transportation, utilities and development services that support new housing and amenities.
For 2026, Port Coquitlam has focused on maintaining existing service levels and finding savings and efficiencies to limit costs for taxpayers. This has included reviewing costs line by line, deferring non-critical items, the strategic use of reserves, and leveraging partnerships and grant funding wherever possible.
Residents are encouraged to save time, avoid lines at City Hall and pay using one of the following options:
Online or by phone through a financial institution
12-digit number may be required:

The annual Home Owner Grant must now be claimed online at gov.bc.ca/homeownergrant by the due date to avoid penalty and interest. Instructions for paying taxes and claiming the Home Owner Grant online, can be found at portcoquitlam.ca/taxes, along with more information about payment options. Payment details are also printed on the back of the tax notice.
A five per cent penalty will be applied to outstanding current balances after July 2, 2026, and an additional five percent penalty will be added after Sept 15, 2026. A penalty will also be applied if a financial institution rejects payment, or if payment is received after the due date.
