City Encourages Residents To Donate To Hazel Trembath School

News

The City of Port Coquitlam is launching a school supplies collection at the Port Coquitlam Community Centre (PCCC), Hyde Creek Recreation Centre (HC), and City Hall until October 31 to help support the staff, students and teachers whose school was burnt down over the weekend.

Residents can simply place supplies in the bins located in the lobby at PCCC, HC and City Hall. The City will collect these items and donate them to Hazel Trembath Elementary School.

City staff will continue to work with the School District 43 (SD43) on ways the City can support the staff, students and teachers during this difficult time.

A number of groups, businesses and organizations in the community have stepped forward to offer support for those affected by the Hazel Trembath Elementary fire, which displaced about 250 students after the building was gutted by a fire on October 14. Students will be kept together and moved to Winslow Centre in Coquitlam as a short-term solution.
