Port Coquitlam, BC – Dec. 9, 2024… The City of Port Coquitlam is inviting engaged residents to help shape the City’s future by sharing their experiences, ideas, and perspectives as part of the Mayor’s Citizen Advisory Roundtable (MCAR).

Now entering its sixth year, MCAR was launched in 2019 by Mayor Brad West to provide Council with valuable input on topics ranging from budgets to City projects, initiatives, and community development.

“The roundtable has been an invaluable source of fresh ideas and honest feedback,” said Mayor Brad West. “Hearing from residents and businesses about their vision for Port Coquitlam is always inspiring. I’m look forward to seeing how this next group will continue to shape the future of our city.”

The City is seeking volunteers who are eager to provide feedback and share input with City staff and Council on programs and initiatives that enhance the quality of life in Port Coquitlam and advance the City’s strategic vision.

The upcoming term will begin in January 2025 and end in December 2026 with meetings held quarterly on Monday evenings, with a break in July and August.

Interested individuals can apply online by December 18, 2024 at portcoquitlam.ca/mcar. Previous members are also welcome to apply for re-appointment.

The selection process for the coming term will focus on a well-rounded group of individuals of different ages, interests and experiences to provide advice to Council. Selected members will be announced in January 2025.

“We’ve seen how the roundtable’s input has informed key projects and initiatives,” says Mayor Brad West. “By working together, we can identify opportunities for growth and improvement that benefit everyone in Port Coquitlam.”

Since 2019, MCAR has played a key role in enhancing City operations through valuable feedback, increasing engagement through new activations, improving event planning, and driving service enhancements. Their contributions have fostered collaborative initiatives, strengthened connections, and improved accessibility throughout the City. This ongoing feedback ensures that programs, services, and events are inclusive, responsive, and tailored to the needs of residents.
