Port Coquitlam Stands For Kindness February 26

Port Coquitlam will take a stand against bullying on Pink Shirt Day, February 26, with activities and resources aimed at raising awareness and promoting kindness. The City joins communities across Canada in recognizing this important day.

Residents of all ages are encouraged to wear pink on February 26 to show their support.

Activities Include:

  • The PoCo Youth Leadership Group will lead the creation of friendship bracelets and colouring sheets at the Port Coquitlam Community Centre (PCCC) from 3:30 to 7:00 p.m. on February 26.
  • The Wilson Lounge will create and display hearts with kind messages in their shared spaces during the week leading up the February 26.
  • Show your support for Pink Shirt Day by picking up a free pink reflector at the Mary Hill Community Police Station on February 25 (10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.) or at City Hall (8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.).
  • Port Coquitlam City Council will wear pink and proclaim February 26 as Pink Shirt Day at the Council meeting on February 25.

This marks the City’s 15th year participating in the national anti-bullying movement, that began in 2007 after students in Nova Scotia rallied around a boy who was bullied for wearing a pink shirt.

Pink Shirt Day falls on the last Wednesday of February, promoting a kinder, more inclusive world by raising awareness and funds for anti-bullying initiatives.
