The City of Port Coquitlam invites the public to the official unveiling of the Terry Fox sculptures, a new public art installation honouring the City’s hometown hero. This highly anticipated ceremony will take place this Saturday, September 13, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. in the plaza in front of the Port Coquitlam Community Centre (PCCC) at 2150 Wilson Avenue. The event will include members of the Fox family and a special celebratory program.
The unveiling features two distinct sculptures designed to capture the spirit of Terry Fox's youth in Port Coquitlam. The figures are placed near each other and are designed to be approachable and relatable, inviting residents and visitors to reflect on Terry's legacy as a national hero. Viewers can interact with the artwork, take photos, or sit on nearby benches for contemplation.
Created by award-winning Spanish artist Casto Solano, the sculptures were selected through a rigorous international process that included the Terry Fox family. The artwork is strategically placed along the walkway leading to the Port Coquitlam Community Centre, creating a vibrant gateway to the permanent exhibit, Terry Fox: Inspiring Local Champions, located inside.
