Fall Clean City Blitz To Start Next Week In Port Coquitlam

News

The City of Port Coquitlam is gearing up once again for its fall City Cleanup Litter Blitz from Sept. 18-20, 2023 to continue to keep the community vibrant and beautiful.

After a busy summer in the City, filled with many events and activities, the fall cleanup blitz will help to refresh streets, parks, trails and other public spaces before fall arrives. City crews will once again work through all three areas (downtown, north and south sides) in the City with each zone expected to take up to four hours with a sweeper finishing up the day.

City crews will work three consecutive days cleaning up the three areas. beginning with the downtown on Mon. Sept. 18, then moving to the north side on Tues. Sept. 19, finishing up on Wed. Sep. 20 on the south side.

As part of the fall cleanup blitz, staff with litter pickers and buckets will be out and about cleaning up litter around the community. As well, residents may notice street sweepers and additional City vehicles on the streets.

The litter blitz will include:

  • Roadside litter pick-up, including major arterial roads
  • Clean up around targeted catch basins in neighbourhoods
  • Surrounding trails
  • Street sweeping to clean up debris from streets
  • Litter and debris removal in City parks
  • Illegal dumping cleanup
  • Graffiti cleanup

Residents driving or cycling are advised to expect minor delays around crews. The public is asked to be safe by respecting work zones and giving crews space while they sweep through.

City crews work hard to keep public spaces clean and safe. Staff are out each day picking up litter, emptying street and park waste bins and sweeping streets. The City continues to have a dedicated presence in the downtown core areas to increase cleaning and maintenance efforts.

The cleanup blitz will continue seasonally throughout the year with more details to come.

The City encourages residents to report areas of concern online at portcoquitlam.ca/report via the PoCo Sort and Report app or by calling 604.927.3111.
