City Offering Free Activity Day For Students Of Hazel Trembath

News

Port Coquitlam, BC - Oct. 16, 2023... The City of Port Coquitlam continues to provide support to the students, staff and teachers of Hazel Trembath Elementary School by providing free drop-in swimming, skating, gym activities and more on Wed., Oct. 18 at the Port Coquitlam Community Centre (PCCC).

Hazel Trembath Elementary School suffered a large fire on Oct. 14. which displaced over 220 students. The City has been working diligently to support those impacted, and in this latest announcement, is hoping to provide a positive experience for students through free activities at the PCCC and Terry Fox Library.

"It's been a very challenging time for the Hazel Trembath community. I know how hard it has been for the kids to be away from their classmates, teachers and school staff while they process everything that has happened," said Mayor Brad West. "We wanted to find a way to bring the Hazel community together to connect, have some fun, and provide space for everyone to see each other in a positive environment. I'm very proud that our city is stepping up to make this happen."

Port Coquitlam Fire and Emergency Services will also be on site with a fire truck from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. where kids can come and talk to firefighters and learn more about fire prevention and fire safety while getting up and close to the apparatus, equipment and more.
