A temporary pipe has been installed along the trail network to divert flows while the sanitary siphon beneath the Coquitlam River is relined. This pipe will be removed within the coming weeks once the work is complete.
We appreciate that the pipe is visually intrusive and thank park users for their patience as we work to complete this phase of the project as efficiently as possible. The most accessible route to the river remains open along the north side of the park, as shown in green on the map below.
Next Steps
Construction at Gates Park is progressing as planned. A majority of the work is expected to be substantially complete by late September 2026, with construction of the grandstand continuing into late fall.
Public access will continue along the park's perimeter trail. The City will continue to update the public as the project moves forward. Comments and questions may be directed to [email protected].
