An atmospheric river is expected to impact Metro Vancouver for Oct. 18-20, 2024. Environment Canada has issued a Special Weather Statement: Prolonged heavy rain is in the forecast from Friday afternoon through Sunday morning. Strong winds are also expected on Saturday.
Water pooling on the roads, localized flooding, high streamflows, and power outages from tree damage due to winds are potential hazards. The BC River Forecast has issued a Flood Watch for Metro Vancouver.Prepare for the weather and stay safe!
- Please clear catchbasins of any fallen leaves of debris to prevent flooding
- Stay out of forested areas during storms
- Drive with caution and check DriveBC for road conditions
- Secure loose objects
- Have your flashlights handy in the case of a power outage
