Port Coquitlam, BC – May 6, 2026…The City of Port Coquitlam is gearing up for its third annual Spring Cleanup Blitz, taking place May 12-14, 2026, to help keep the community clean, vibrant and ready for the summer season.
In 2025, City crews collected 75 bags of litter during the blitz. With warmer weather arriving, this year’s cleanup will focus on refreshing streets, trails, sidewalks and other public spaces across the community.
“The Spring Cleanup Blitz is a practical way to refresh Port Coquitlam after winter and help keep our neighbourhoods, streets and public spaces looking their best,” said Mayor Brad West. “It also highlights the ongoing work City crews do throughout the year to keep our community clean, safe and welcoming.”
City crews will clean three areas over three consecutive days:
Downtown on Tuesday, May 12
South side on Wednesday, May 13
North side on Thursday, May 14
Staff equipped with litter pickers and buckets will be working throughout each area, and residents may also notice street sweepers, pressure washing equipment and additional City vehicles supporting the effort.
The cleanup blitz will include:
Roadside litter pickup, including major arterial roads
Cleanup around targeted catch basins in neighbourhoods
Trail cleaning
Street sweeping
Sidewalk vegetation control
Litter and debris removal in City parks
Illegal dumping cleanup
Graffiti cleanup
Residents driving or cycling near work zones should expect minor delays and are asked to give crews space to work safely.
City crews work year-round to keep public spaces clean and safe by picking up litter, emptying waste bins and sweeping streets. Residents are encouraged to report concerns online at portcoquitlam.ca/report, through the PoCo Sort and Report app, or by calling 604.927.3111.
