The City of Port Coquitlam is inviting residents ages 12 and up of all experience levels to take part in Dance is for a Small Space, a free, community-engaged dance program offered as part of the City's 2026 Artist-in-Residence program
Led by Artist-in-Residence Sarah Kennedy, the program runs Tuesday evenings from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., June 23 to August 25, 2026, in Leigh Square. Workshops are held primarily outdoors, with occasional indoor rehearsals as needed. No previous dance experience is required. The program is open to participants ages 12 and up and is designed to be inclusive and intergenerational. Registration for the workshop series is free at portcoquitlam.ca/register. (#128730)
Kennedy's artistic practice centres on movement, collaboration, and creating welcoming spaces for creative expression. Through Dance is for a Small Space, she will work alongside community members to explore movement in a shared civic space, culminating in an informal public performance on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., in Leigh Square. Please note there will be no classes on August 4 or August 11. Registration for the final performance is free at portcoquitlam.ca/register. (#128753)
The Artist-in-Residence program supports artists in developing new work while building meaningful connections with the Port Coquitlam community. The 2026 residency is supported by the Port Coquitlam Community Foundation's Community Cultural Development (CCD) Investment Program.
