Get Out & Vote Early In The 2026 Municipal Election

News

Port Coquitlam voters can cast their ballots early in the 2026 General Local Election at two advance polls this week.

Qualified voters can head to the polls before Oct. 17 general voting day to cast their ballot for one mayor, six councillors and two school trustees, each to serve a four-year term.

Why Vote?

Local government makes decisions that directly shape daily life in Port Coquitlam, including property taxes, road and transit priorities, parks, recreation, and public safety. This ballot also includes two seats on the Board of Education, which sets priorities for local schools, including programs, budgets, and facilities. This is a separate election from the provincial and federal elections, with its own candidates, ballot, and voting locations, so it's important not to confuse this vote, or skip it, thinking another election covers it. Every vote helps decide who makes these decisions for Port Coquitlam over the next four years.

When & Where are Advance Polls?

  • Wednesday, Oct. 7, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Port Coquitlam Community Centre – Mabbett Hall, 2150 Wilson Ave.
