No Time Change on November 1: New Time Zone, Pacific Time

Notice

Clocks will not "fall back" on November 1 this year, as BC has adopted year-round Daylight Saving Time and will observe the new Pacific Time year-round. Winter mornings will be darker, with sunrises in December and January around 9am, and winter evenings will be brighter, giving you an extra hour of daylight after work and school.

Here are a few things to keep in mind:

  • Review your digital calendars. Some softwares, calendar applications, and recurring events may display incorrect times due to the time zone change. You may need to update the time zone setting for calendar entries dated after November 1 to our new time zone, Pacific Time.

  • Drivers, plan for reduced visibility during morning commutes. Allow extra travel time, turn on your headlights, reduce speed in school and residential zones, and watch carefully for pedestrians and cyclists who may be harder to see before sunrise.

  • Pedestrians, stay visible on dark mornings. Wear reflective clothing, use lights, and make eye contact with drivers before crossing. Stay alert! Free reflectors are available at City Hall and our Community Police Stations.
