PORT COQUITLAM, B.C. – September 10, 2025…Culture Days takes place from Sept. 19 to Oct. 12, 2025, with a variety of activities celebrating local arts and culture.
The City invites residents to celebrate Culture Days with free arts and culture programming for all ages taking place throughout September and October. Held annually, Culture Days aims to support engagement with, and appreciation for, arts and culture landscapes of Canadian communities.
“Our city's strong sense of community is at the heart of what makes Port Coquitlam such a great place to live. Culture Days is a great opportunity for residents to explore new art forms, celebrate our local talent, and experience the diversity that brings us all together,” said Mayor Brad West. "We're proud to offer these free, accessible events that bring people together."
Culture Days Free Events
- Culture Days Launch at the Cultural Roundtable
Thursday, September 18 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., at the Gathering Place
All are welcome to attend the City’s Cultural Roundtable. Learn about upcoming Culture Days events in Port Coquitlam and meet representatives from local arts, culture and heritage organizations. The evening will feature an artist talk by John Larsen, whose exhibition Drawing without an Eraser, is on display at the Port Coquitlam Community Centre.
- Family Art in the Gallery
Saturdays, September 20 & 27 and October 4 & 11 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Join us for a free, drop-in program in the Michael Wright Art Gallery. Families can view the current exhibition and create their own art piece to take home. All supplies are provided, and no registration is required.
- Culture Days All-Ages Dance Party
Saturday, September 20 from 12:00 to 6:00 p.m.
Move your body to world rhythms and learn new steps from professional dancers in the heart of Leigh Square. We'll wrap up the event with a DJ dance party. Whether you’re a seasoned dancer or just curious to try something new, this is a great opportunity to connect with community, culture, and rhythm. This event is a collaboration between the City, the Terry Fox Library, the South Asian Collective Society, and the Gujarati Society of BC.
- Opening Reception for Fall Art Exhibitions
Thursday, September 25 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
You’re invited to the opening reception for three new art exhibitions. The Michael Wright Art Gallery will feature Weightless, I’m Still Here by KyungAh Hwang. The Outlet Gallery will showcase The Skin of Trees by Janna Kumi. The City Hall Gallery will feature Inspiring Local Champions: The Enduring Legacy of Terry Fox, an exhibition of images of our hometown hero previously shown at the Terry Fox Library and the Port Coquitlam Community Centre.
Live music will also be performed by the Tristan Paxton Duo, with Tristan Paxton on guitar and Daniel Howard on bass.
"These collaborations with organizations like the Terry Fox Library and the South Asian Collective Society are essential. They allow us to showcase a wider variety of programming that truly reflects the vibrant spirit of our city. We encourage everyone to come out and get hands-on with arts and culture," said Cllr.
