Last Chance to Be Part of History for 100th May Days Capsule

News

A new community time capsule will be buried outside City Hall as part of the 2023 May Day centennial in Port Coquitlam on Thurs. Nov. 30 at 2:00 p.m. in Veterans Park.

Residents of all ages are being invited to submit items until Nov 28, 2023.

Port Coquitlam Heritage and Cultural Society (PoCo Heritage) has received a wide variety of submissions such as art and photographs that show why the May Day's Spring Festival is special and what people in the future should know about what May Days means to the community. PoCo Heritage and Museum encourages residents to provide artifacts to include in the time capsule.

The time capsule will be opened in 50 years in 2073. PoCo Heritage Museum and Archives is coordinating the project in partnership with the City of Port Coquitlam.

Submission requirements

  • All entries must include the submitter's name, address, phone number, email address, and be accompanied by an explanation of why their item should be included.
  • Flat items such as artwork may be no larger than 8.5" x11".
  • Digital items will be accepted on a USB drive.
  • Small items will be accepted, but please consider that there is limited space in the capsule.

Submission drop-off

In person at the PoCo Heritage Museum and Archives. Hours are available at pocoheritage.org.
