Storm Update 9:15pm

The road closure on Coast Meridian was implemented to allow for the deployment of flood mitigation measures and was not due to active flooding. The situation has been well managed and contained, with no reports of private property damage related to flooding.

“I cannot thank our crews enough for their professionalism, preparation, and sheer hard work,” said Mayor Brad West. “They stepped up in difficult conditions, acted decisively, and did exactly what the public expects, protecting homes, infrastructure, and public safety. The City’s enhanced response included deploying additional pumps and newly acquired Tiger Dams, ensuring we used every possible tool to protect Port Coquitlam. Residents can be assured that we’ll continue to do everything necessary to protect our community.”

Preventative work completed in advance, along with the proactive deployment of pumps and Tiger Dams at Hyde Creek and Coast Meridian, played a key role in stabilizing conditions and preventing overland flow into nearby properties.

City staff continue to monitor conditions. If conditions continue to stabilize, we are hopeful that Coast Meridian will reopen by midnight. Further updates will be provided as needed.
