PoCo Climb Reaches New Heights - Phase 2 Grand Opening Set For June 19

Adventure awaits as the City of Port Coquitlam proudly announces the grand opening of Phase 2 of the PoCo Climb, a remarkable addition to the City's trail network. Residents and visitors are invited to celebrate this significant milestone on Thursday, June 19, 2025, at 2:45 p.m.

This expansion of the PoCo Climb now features a truly one-of-a-kind 'scramble' trail and significantly enhances the community's access to nature and active living. This new section builds on the existing challenge, bringing the total number of stairs on the PoCo Climb to over 200, ascending from an elevation of 5 metres to 75 metres between Shaughnessy Street and Western Drive. This expansion not only offers a fitness challenge with stunning views but also thoughtfully integrates into the City’s existing trail infrastructure, making it a true gem for outdoor enthusiasts.

Phase 2 highlights include:

  • Updated access points with a new pedestrian crossing for improved connectivity to the ƛ̓éxətəm (tla-hut-um) Regional Park.
  • Improvements to the existing pedestrian crossing at Eastern Drive to Skyline Park, ensuring safer passage.
  • An exciting granite boulder 'scramble' running alongside for those seeking an extra dose of adventure leading to a scenic summit landing.
  • Amazing unobstructed views of ƛ̓éxətəm (tla-hut-um) Regional Park, providing a breathtaking reward for the climb.

Event Details:

Everyone is welcome to join the celebration on Thursday, June 19 at 2:45 p.m. The first 100 people to complete the new Phase 2 section will receive a commemorative towel and other surprises.

A ribbon cutting ceremony will be held at the base of the new stair section on Eastern Drive (1200 blk Eastern Drive).

Parking will be available along Eastern Drive or Western Drive.

The PoCo Climb represents the City's commitment to providing diverse outdoor recreational opportunities and celebrating the natural beauty of Port Coquitlam.
