Port Coquitlam will take a stand against bullying on Pink Shirt Day, February 25, with activities and resources that raise awareness and encourage kindness. The City joins communities across Canada in recognizing the annual day of action.
Residents of all ages are encouraged to wear pink on February 25 to show support for a kinder, more inclusive community.
Activities and Ways to Participate on February 25:
- Hands-on activities for all ages
Participants of all ages can enjoy hands-on, creative, and connection-building activities led by the PoCo Youth Leadership Group at the Port Coquitlam Community Centre on Wednesday, February 25, from 3:30 to 7:00 p.m., including: - Colouring sheets – promote calm creativity while reinforcing messages of kindness and inclusion.
- Friendship bracelets – create and exchange bracelets as symbols of friendship, support, and standing up for one another.
- Balloon faces – a lighthearted activity inviting youth to personalize balloons with positive expressions and messages.
- Face painting – celebrate the spirit of Pink Shirt Day with pink-themed designs, symbols of kindness, and uplifting art.

Show your support for Pink Shirt Day by picking up a free pink reflector at the Mary Hill Community Police Station on February 25 (10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.). - Council Recognition
Port Coquitlam City Council will wear pink and proclaim February 25 as Pink Shirt Day at the Council meeting on Tuesday, February 24.

Background
This marks the City’s 16th year participating in the national anti-bullying movement, that began in 2007 after students in Nova Scotia rallied around a boy who was bullied for wearing a pink shirt.
Pink Shirt Day falls on the last Wednesday of February, promoting a kinder, more inclusive world by raising awareness and funds for anti-bullying initiatives.
