Get ready to be inspired! A new art exhibition opening this week showcases the creativity and skill of local high school art students. The exhibition ‘Imaginings VII: A Collection of Port Coquitlam Student Artwork’ spans all three galleries in Leigh Square (Outlet Gallery, Michael Wright Art Gallery, City Hall Gallery) and the Port Coquitlam Community Centre (PCCC).
All are invited to attend the opening reception on Friday, May 9, 2025, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Michael Wright Art Gallery, located within the Gathering Place at 2253 Leigh Square, Unit 200. This free event, complete with light refreshments, celebrates the talented student artists and their impressive work.
In this vibrant group exhibition, students from Terry Fox Secondary, École Riverside Secondary, and École des Pionniers share their diverse perspectives and creative journeys through an impressive collection of nearly 300 pieces, including drawings, painting, collages, pottery and sculptures. Each artwork tells a unique story, shaped by the students’ individual experiences, backgrounds, and imaginations. The collection beautifully highlights their growth as artists, from exploring innovative techniques to discovering the powerful role of art as a means of expression. This exhibition truly celebrates creativity, collaboration, and the joy of learning.
The City of Port Coquitlam’ four galleries feature a rotating program of exhibitions by local and regional artists. All galleries are free to the public. Visit portcoquitlam.ca/exhibitions for details.
