Port Coquitlam, BC – May 27, 2025… The City of Port Coquitlam is excited to announce the upcoming arrival of cyclists participating in the Terry Fox National Ride of Hope on Monday, June 9, 2025. This monumental cross-Canada journey, led by Terry’s brother, Darrell Fox, pays tribute to the 45th anniversary of Terry Fox's Marathon of Hope.
Students from Port Coquitlam schools and City staff will be attending to cheer on these dedicated individuals. Residents and visitors are also invited to join them as the cyclists make their way across Canada, with an expected arrival at approximately 9:30 a.m. at the Port Coquitlam Community Centre (PCCC) at 2150 Wilson Avenue – gathering at the Marathon of Hope on Kelly Avenue.
"We are incredibly proud to welcome the Terry Fox National Ride of Hope cyclists to Port Coquitlam. Terry Fox is a true Canadian hero, and it's an honour to host an event that carries on his dream of a world without cancer,” said Mayor Brad West. “Their arrival perfectly complements our new 'Terry Fox: Inspiring Local Champions' exhibit, offering a meaningful opportunity to reflect on Terry's enduring legacy and the local heroes he continues to inspire. We encourage everyone to come down to the Port Coquitlam Community Centre and show their support for these amazing athletes."
This 7,000 km ride, which began at the iconic Terry Fox sculptures at BC Place in Vancouver, aims to raise $1 million for innovative cancer research. Like Terry in 1980, Darrell and the team share a dream as big as the country – Terry's dream on wheels – and the City of Port Coquitlam is proud to be a key pit stop on their route.
The Terry Fox National Ride of Hope continues to be a vital initiative, embodying Terry Fox’s extraordinary spirit and unwavering commitment to a world without cancer.
