Registration Open For City-Wide Garage Sale

News

Spring is here and Port Coquitlam residents cleaning out their closets can find new homes for their unwanted items by taking part in the City-Wide Garage Sale on June 14.

This marks Port Coquitlam’s 16th annual community garage sale, a key part of the City’s ongoing efforts to reduce landfill waste.

Participants can dispose of their unwanted items in an earth-friendly way while benefiting from the increased number of bargain hunters drawn out by the large number of garage sales. In 2024, over 280 households participated in the City-Wide Garage Sale.

To participate, Port Coquitlam residents simply plan a garage sale at their home on June 14 from at least 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., and register online by June 6 at portcoquitlam.ca/garagesale.

The City will also offer space at two convenient locations for Port Coquitlam residents living in  multi-residential buildings that may lack the space or permission to host a garage sale at home. These location are the parking lot at Hyde Creek Recreation Centre and the parking lot at Gates Park on Reeve Street between Atkins Avenue and Kelly Avenue. Space is limited and advance registration is required. Residents who secure a spot at these locations are responsible for their own belongings, set up, take down and cleanup.

Participants who register by the June 6 deadline will receive free advertising for their sale through a variety of social media channels, as well as via the City’s e-newsletter leading up to the event. Their sale will also be listed on the dedicated garage sale webpage at portcoquitlam.ca/garagesale.

All participants will be responsible for packing up any unsold items, just like any regular garage sale. The City will not be collect unsold items but encourages participants to use the City’s large item pick-up program at portcoquitlam.ca/largeitem or donate leftover items to local charities.
