Port Coquitlam residents looking to declutter, reuse and reduce waste can register now for the City’s annual City-wide Garage Sale on Saturday, June 13.
The event marks Port Coquitlam’s 17th annual community garage sale and is part of the City’s ongoing efforts to support waste reduction by helping residents find new homes for unwanted items.
Participants benefit from increased promotion and a City-Wide listing that helps attract bargain hunters to registered sales across Port Coquitlam. In 2026, more than 250 households participated in the City-wide Garage Sale.
To take part, Port Coquitlam residents can plan a garage sale at their home on June 13, from at least 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., and register online by Friday, June 7 at portcoquitlam.ca/garagesale.
The City will also offer limited space at two convenient locations for Port Coquitlam residents living in multi-residential buildings who may not have the space or permission to host a garage sale at home. These locations are:
Hyde Creek Recreation Centre parking lot
Gates Park parking lot on Reeve Street, between Atkins Avenue and Kelly Avenue
Space is limited and advance registration is required. Residents who secure a spot at one of these locations are responsible for their own belongings, set up, take down and cleanup.
Participants who register by the June 6 deadline will receive free promotion for their sale through the City’s social media channels and e-newsletter leading up to the event. Registered sales will also be listed on the dedicated garage sale webpage at portcoquitlam.ca/garagesale.
Unsold Items
Participants are responsible for packing up and removing any unsold items, just as they would with a regular garage sale. The City will not collect unsold items from garage sale locations.
Residents are encouraged to donate reusable items to local charities or use the City’s large item pick-up program at portcoquitlam.ca/largeitem.
Several area charities accept donations of household items and clothing. Please call ahead regarding larger items:
Salvation Army Thrift Store, 2850 Shaughnessy St., Port Coquitlam: 604-461-0288
Crossroads Hospice Society, 209-2773 Barnet Hwy., Coquitlam: 604-945-0606
Value Village, #105-985 Nicola Ave., Port Coquitlam: 778-262-0794
Tips for Hosting a Successful Garage Sale
Garage sale hosts can help make the day run smoothly by preparing in advance:
Put up signs around the neighbourhood to guide shoppers to the sale. A downloadable sign is available at portcoquitlam.ca/garagesale.
Have small bills and change available for customers.
Encourage neighbours on the same street or in the same complex to host garage sales at the same time to increase traffic.
Price items in advance to make transactions easier during busy periods.
Recruit helpers for added security and support throughout the sale.
Have clean bags, newspapers and boxes available for customers to carry away purchases.
Tips for Garage Sale Shoppers
Shoppers can help make the event safe and respectful for everyone:
Respect each host’s posted start time.
Bring small bills and change for easier transactions.
Drive carefully on residential streets and watch for pedestrians, cyclists and animals.
Respect private property by avoiding gardens, not blocking driveways and not double parking.
