Nominations are now open for the Port Coquitlam Best Biz Awards, back for its tenth year to shine the spotlight on local businesses!
Anyone can nominate their own or another Port Coquitlam business until Feb. 2 using the online form at portcoquitlam.ca/bizawards. Participants are encouraged to make their nomination stand out with detailed examples and descriptions of the business they are nominating.
The City is celebrating its 10th event since launching the awards in 2013. This annual event recognizes the contributions businesses make to the community, celebrates their accomplishments, and encourages Port Coquitlam residents to shop locally for goods and services.
This year, businesses may be nominated in one of four categories:
- Small Business of the Year – less than 5 employees, includes home-based businesses
- Business of the Year – 6 or more employees operating for more than 3 years
- New Business of the Year –recently opened within the past three years
- BIA Downtown Business of Year – contributes to the downtown vitality and community
Businesses of any size may be nominated, as long as they operate in Port Coquitlam and have a valid City business licence. Businesses can also nominate themselves.
All nominees will be entered for the People’s Choice Award, and their business names with links to their websites will be promoted on the City website and in other print and online communications. From Feb. 5 to 16, the public will be invited to vote for their favourite business.
Selected by a panel of City and business representatives, the awards will be presented at the 10th PoCo Best Biz Awards Celebration on Feb. 27 from 5:30-8:00 p.m. at the Port Coquitlam Community Centre – Mabbett Hall. This free event is open to all Port Coquitlam businesses and employees (maximum of two seats per business) and includes complimentary food, drinks and door prizes. Early registration at portcoquitlam.ca/bizawards is recommended as space is limited.
