Skating

All the skating you can have in one place. The Port Coquitlam Community Centre hosts on-ice and dry arena sports on its two brand new arenas at different times of the year. A great venue for hosting skating parties in the fall and winter and plenty of fun during the spring and summer months too.

We’re happy that the Port Coquitlam Community Centre (PCCC) is ready to safely reopen and we are ready to welcome you back.

Pre-registered public skating begins Sept. 26 – registration opens Sept. 18. Reserve your spot in public skating for one-hour timeslots at portcoquitlam.ca/register up to 1 week in advance.(Registration opens 8am daily for the following week)

Group or private registered skating lessons begin Oct. 14 – registration opens Sept. 30 for Port Coquitlam residents and Oct. 2 for the general public.

 

Registration Information for Parents

Learn to Skate Information
  • Lessons will be 30 minutes of on ice instruction with one hour timeslots to allow for transition between users: Group and private offered
  • Participants will sign up for a 1 hour time slot vs levels (e.g. Mon: 4 to 5pm, 5 to 6pm and 6 to 7pm, Wed. 4 to 5pm, 5 to 6pm and Fri. 5 to 6pm)
  • Participants are to arrive 15 minutes prior to lesson start time to scheduled start time to confirm registration, complete health check and orientation
  • Participants to exit 15 minutes post lessons to remove rental equipment and leave the facility
  • Learn to Skate lessons are open to 20 skaters / time slot and will divided into groups of 4 to 5 based on skill level
  • Foundational skating skills taught over the session
  • A Progress card will be provided at the end of the lesson set
  • New skaters require parent / guardian participation/ice cleats and helmet will be provided to parents if unable to skate\
  • Low staff to instructor ratio per hour
Leisure Buddy

Leisure Buddy

Some children require additional support for a variety of reasons. Examples include, but are not limited to, Autism, physical or mental limitations, behavioural issues, aggression, language barriers etc. It is important to choose a program appropriate for your child. Leisure Buddies assist children with staying on task, re-direction, encouraging involvement, explaining, assisting and group inclusion. For more info please click here.
