A variety of public skates and drop in hockey programs are offered during the summer, fall and winter, the public skate schedule will provide detailed program, rental and equipment information.

Admission and Rental Rates

Click here for information about discounts for Grade 5 and 6 students.

  • CSA approved hockey or snowboard helmets are recommended and mandatory for children 11 years and under; strongly recommended for new skaters .
  • Bicycle helmets are not permitted for any ice sessions.
  • Children 7 years and under must be accompanied on the ice by a person 16yrs. or older on skates.
  • Strollers and wheel chairs permitted on the ice, free helmet supplied to those participants.
  • No sticks or pucks during public skating sessions, unless authorized at the discretion of staff in a designated area.

Family Programs

The City of Port Coquitlam offers a variety of drop-in public skate programs geared towards families with younger and older children, including our seasonal specialty skates. Drop in hockey information for families is located in our Hockey section.

Evening and Weekend Fall and Winter Public Skates

Noon Hour Public Skate

Monday to Friday from 12 to 1 pm

Toonie Skates

Mondays from 1:30 to 3 pm

Fridays from 1:30 to 3:45 pm

Playtime on Ice (Guardians & 7ys and under)

A fun and interactive time for caregivers to teach children 7 years and under to skate, play and have fun on the ice with toys and participate in our designated hockey zones. Skating aids, soft hockey pucks and plastic sticks provide. Admission includes one adult and child, additional fee per participant as per skate admission table.

Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 10:45 to 11:45 am

Program fee: $5.20 Adult & one child

Adapted and Adult Skate – above

Drop in to enjoy some social time together while being active on the ice. Adapted skate permits wheelchairs on the ice and free rental helmets are provided and required for wheelchair patron.

Wednesdays 2:30 to 3:30 pm

Youth Skate – above

Lace up your skates and enjoy time with friends in this super-cool, fully supervised drop in program. $2 includes skating and rentals, or free with the purchase of $10 YAC Card good for one year.

Elks Free Skate

The Port Coquitlam Elk’s Club sponsored public skate session offers FREE admission and rentals to all!

Halloween Skate

Dress up in your favorite Halloween costume and enjoy an afternoon of skating, face painting, games and crafts!

Remembrance Day Skate

After the City’s Remembrance Day Ceremony spend the afternoon skating with family and friends.

Cancellation & Changes

Public skating/hockey sessions are sometimes cancelled on statutory holidays. Sessions are also subject to change without notice, as sessions are sometimes changed or cancelled during events and tournaments. Please call 604.927.7970 for current schedule.
