Winter Festivities Continue in Port Coquitlam With Holiday Train and More

The holiday season continues in Port Coquitlam with a festive line-up of family-friendly events, highlighted by the return of the iconic Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) Holiday Train on Saturday, December 20.
 
CPKC Holiday Train – Saturday, December 20
 
The 27th annual CPKC Holiday Train will arrive in Port Coquitlam at 6:35 p.m., followed by a live musical performance by the Barenaked Ladies from 6:45 to 7:15  p.m. on Kingsway Avenue between Mary Hill Road and Wilson Avenue.
 
In advance of the train’s arrival, residents are invited to enjoy free holiday arts activities, hot chocolate, popcorn, and a family movie screening from 4:00 to 6:30 p.m. at the Port Coquitlam Community Centre (PCCC).
 
The three-week, 10,000-kilometre journey began November 21 in New Brunswick and will visit more than 150 communities before concluding in Port Coquitlam.

Public Skate (Max 175)

Pre-registration opens two days in advance for Port Coquitlam residents at 8:00 a.m. and for non-residents at 10:00 a.m. Register at portcoquitlam.ca/register or call 604-927-7529. Day-of registration available if space permits.
 
Enjoy lap skating with family and friends. Everyone welcome. Must be 8 years and older to skate on their own. Children under 8 require 16+ ice support. Wheelchairs and strollers permitted.

  • 11:30 a.m.–1:00 p.m.
  • 2:30–4:00 p.m. – Skate with Santa
  • 7:30–9:00 p.m.

December 21–23, 27–30 & January 2–3

  • 11:30 a.m.–1:00 p.m.

  • 7:30–9:00 p.m.

December 24, 31 & January 4

Family Play and Skate (Max 60)
 
Program designed for families with young children to attend together to play and skate. Includes play-based zones for hockey, skating, and toys.

Children must be accompanied by a family member. Individual participants enjoy attending a Public Skate.

  • 9:30–11:00 a.m.

Ring, Stick and Puck – $4 (Max 24)
 
Program designed for experienced skaters to practise hockey or ringette stick and puck skills.
Ages 4–7 require 16+ ice support. Goalies not permitted. Equipment: Participants bring stick and mandatory hockey gloves. Skate and helmet rentals available.
 
Everyone Welcome – Ring, Stick and Puck

  • January 2–4: 10:00–11:30 a.m.
