Blue Cart Program – Recycling

The City of Port Coquitlam provides curbside collection of recyclables to single-family homes, and to business and commercial properties. Services are provided in conjunction with Recycle BC.

Only put carts out on the street from 5:30 – 7:30 am on collection day and secure them again by 7 pm.

Newly Accepted Items

As of 2023, Recycle BC is accepting new items through our curbside collection program. You can now put the following in your blue bin:

• More household items: metal tins, food storage containers, straws, stir sticks, plastic cutlery, plastic disposable hangers, dental floss cases, and plastic disposable tape dispensers
• Party décor: pinatas, gift boxes, paper gift bags, and paper hats
• Boxes: cardboard storage boxes and moving boxes

What Goes In The Blue Cart?

Port Coquitlam offers co-mingled recycling. That means there is no sorting required — all recycling goes in the blue cart. With the exception of shredded paper (which should be bagged separately in a transparent bag), do not bundle, bag or otherwise contain your recyclables.

Please ensure all recyclables are clean and dry.

Glass Recycling

Please DO NOT place glass in your blue cart as broken glass mixed with the paper products significantly reduces the revenue potential of our recycling. You may return glass containers to one of the two below locations.
