Watering Permit Application

A new lawn – placing of sod, turf or by seeding – or landscaping requires a permit in order to be exempt from the water use restrictions.

Apply for a Watering Permit

If you are growing a new lawn by seed or sod during the region-wide water use restrictions (May 1 – October 15), you can apply for a watering permit. We encourage residents to carefully consider any work that may require a permit before commencing, given the heightened regional water shortage risk.

If the permit is issued:

The permit allows lawn watering for three hours on any day of the week between 4:00am and 9:00am for the duration of the permit.
The permit is valid for a period of 21 days from the date of issuance.
The permit is $30.
The permit will remain valid for the duration stated or until Stage 3 restrictions come into effect. No new permits will be issued once Stage 3 restrictions are in force. Once Stage 3 restrictions are in force, all permits will be immediately invalid. No refunds will be issued.
