Cemetery Services

A cemetery is a special place for remembering and celebrating the life of a loved one. It is also a place for reflecting, walking and enjoying nature. When you select the Port Coquitlam Cemetery, you place your trust with us to ensure your loved ones are remembered as you wish.

The City of Port Coquitlam offers options to honour life in the face of loss. In addition to traditional casket internment and cremation plots, we offer a wide range of services to create a fitting tribute. The City of Port Coquitlam is dedicated to providing understanding care and exceptional service to its customers.

The Port Coquitlam Cemetery Map offers an aerial view of the tranquil surrounding of the cemetery, search tool for locating a loved one, pictures of grave marking and to search for available plots.

Please note: The cemetery remains open between the holidays Dec 24 – Jan 1.

Cremation

Cremation and ash scattering gardens provide a tranquil place to reflect and remember, while a Columbarium provides a majestic resting place for a loved one’s ashes.

Memorial Alternatives

Commemorate a loved one in the Memory Book in the cemetery, or with a tree in Peace Park, a park bench or a picnic table. There are a number of park benches installed throughout Port Coquitlam. All donations (benches, trees and picnic tables) are good for a period of 10 years. The donor will be asked if they wish to re-donate, when the 10 year timeframe has been reached.

The donation cost for a bench in a park or in the cemetery is $1,500. If you would prefer to have a bench in a premium location such as along the Donald Park Walkway, in Lions Park or throughout the downtown core then the donation cost for these premium sites is $2,500. The stainless steel 2 1/2″ x 8″ plaque can hold 4-5 lines of text and takes about 2-3 weeks to be made.  The bench could take a month or two to be constructed and installed, depending on staff availability.

Another option is a picnic table in one of our parks. The donation cost is $3,750.

There are a number of Shirofugen Cherry (White Goddess) trees available for donation in Peace Park. This picturesque park borders the Pitt River and the Traboulay PoCo Trail. The donation cost is $1,350. The 5″ x 5″ plaque can usually be installed in approximately 4-6 weeks time, depending on staff and the plaque company’s availability.

The Cemetery’s operation is governed through the Cemetery and Funeral Services Act through the Office of the Attorney General – Department of Consumer Affairs and Services and the City of Port Coquitlam.

Commemorative Naming

Port Coquitlam residents may complete a Commemorative Naming Application to request the naming of a City park, parts of a park, facility, part of a facility and/or other civic asset commonly used by the public that has no name or only an informal name. The commemorative name may be considered and approved by Council, on a case-by-case basis. The application can be found on the City Hall webpage here.
